Design your enquiry form

This page is for website editors (admins with Website editor switched on). The enquiry form is the form visitors fill in to ask for a quote. You choose the questions. Their answers arrive in Enquiries (see Filter and download enquiries).

Open Website, then the Enquiry form tab. You see two cards.

These fields are always asked and always required, so you can follow up: name, email, phone, company and the consent tick. You can’t remove them (they show Locked), but you can reword each one. Clear a wording and the usual one comes back.

The heading shows how many you have, for example Your questions (3 of 20). You can have up to 20.

  1. Press + Add question. A sheet opens.
  2. Choose the Type:
Type What the visitor does
Short answer Types a line.
Paragraph Types a longer answer.
Pick one Chooses one option.
Pick several Ticks as many options as they like.
Number Types a number.
  1. Type the Question. Add a Help line (optional) if you want small words shown under it.
  2. Switch Required on if the visitor must answer.
  3. For Pick one and Pick several, add the options with + Add option (Remove takes one away). For Pick one, choose Show as Buttons or Dropdown.
  4. For Number, you can add a Unit (optional), such as “orders a month”.
  5. Press Done. Closing the sheet without Done cancels: nothing is added.

Choose a question to edit it. Use the arrows to move it up or down (on a computer you can also drag it). Delete in the sheet removes it. For a question you have already saved, it first asks “Delete this question? Answers already received keep it.” so older enquiries keep their answers.

If you rename a question, older enquiries still show the wording the visitor saw.

Above the cards, switch between Edit and Preview. Preview shows only the form. On a phone-sized screen the preview has a phone and a computer view.

For your whole site, press Preview website. Choose the Page that shows the form. Press Back to the form when you’re done. If none of your pages shows the form yet, add a Quote form section or a Form block (see Build your own sections).

Changes save by themselves (the corner shows if one isn’t saved, with Not saved — try again). This screen has no Publish button. Publish the website as usual, from the website’s Publish. Until you do, visitors keep seeing the old form.

Not saved — try again The change didn’t save. Press it to try again.
